Will you believe the God who created it all or the one trying to destroy it?

The what-ifs of life can scare us all, especially if we develop the Chicken Little mindset and believe that something terrible is always about to happen.

We scare ourselves and cause extreme stress and anxiety by believing the made-up worst-case scenarios. I’ve learned that I am a masterful storyteller of all things horror.

I never told myself good stories. I always imagined the worst. Then, I scared myself and believed my fictitious stories. Even though my worst-case scenarios never happened, it still didn’t diminish their power in my mind.

I feared the worst, believed it, and allowed it all to control me.

Everything changed for me when I stopped focusing on what if and started focusing on what is. God is in the what is.

Philippians 4:8 KJV

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

To overcome this, we must discard the lies and accept the truth. If we would take every fearful thought, pray about it, ask God to show us the truth, and actually believe what the Lord tells us, it would stop so much of our mental anguish.

I’ve been struggling for days because I believed the enemy’s lies. In my vulnerable and fearful moments, I allowed him to sneak inside.

I had a keynote speech to give at a college and allowed the enemy to make me believe I wasn’t good enough. I listened as he told me not to be authentic and myself. I let him cause confusion, fear, and doubt in me, and then I wallowed with it for days.

I created stressful thoughts, which led to stressful actions. I couldn’t sleep well from all the anxiety I made for myself. I created it because I resisted the Lord’s plan and ways and believed the enemy. I allowed the enemy to tell me what to do.

Following the enemy, even for a little while, causes pain. His goal is to destroy us. He wants to steal our peace and blessings. If we listen to him, he will make us afraid to live.

I know he wants to steal my dreams and take away my power with the Lord. Whenever I believe him over my Lord, I give him more power over me. The good news is that the Lord can help us to overcome him. When we take whatever is bothering us to the Lord, He can help us see things from a Godly perspective. God can help us learn how to think.

The key is to take it to the Lord as soon as possible. The longer we allow it to roll around in our minds, the stronger it gets. However, when I can take the thought to God, He can show me the truth.

God wants us to trust Him, believe His word, and bring it all to Him in prayer. He can give us peace that passes all understanding and help us overcome every attack from the enemy.
