Transforming Checklist Living into a God-Centered Life

Are you honoring God with your life or barely getting by?
Gosh, that’s a tough question. On the surface, it might seem like we are using our lives to honor God, especially if we go to church, help others, and try hard to be good. We can create a beautiful checklist and do everything, but it’s not really honoring God if our heart is not in it.
For years, I have lived a checklist life. I go through the motions and do the things that good, Godly Christian women do, but my heart isn’t always in it. Sometimes, I just do the thing so I can check it off my to-do list. But at the end of the day, I feel depleted and as if I’m missing something essential.
An emptiness comes from trying to live for God without Him and His goodness.
We can’t create good, fulfilling, God-centered lives without God. I believe it is like the scripture that tells us that unless God builds the house, the labor is in vain. It is all in vain unless we invite God into our everyday lives and create with Him. It doesn’t fill us up or give us anything to share with others.
If we try to run on our own supply, we won’t have enough to get by alone, and we won’t be able to help anyone else. This is where the emptiness and exhaustion that sleep can’t fix comes in. We feel as if we have to give and then end up resenting the giving.
The solution is to invite God in—all the way in—to the deepest places of our souls, to let Him into the places that no one else can see or understand.
We need to make God the biggest part of our lives. We need to share it all with Him: the pain that no one else can understand, the hurt that feels as if it cuts straight through us, the emptiness that makes us feel so alone, and the dreams we are too afraid to utter out loud.
God can understand, heal, fill, and help us in ways that no one else can.
When we get sick and tired of barely living and getting by, God can show us how to live inspired by Him. He can transform our daily grind of to-do lists and checklists into gratitude and love lists.
God has the answer to our every problem and wants to share it all with us. Invite Him and allow Him to transform your ordinary life into something extraordinary.
