Living in the present moment

Have you ever really thought about the beauty and value of time? It doesn’t mean much to us when it feels abundant. But when something threatens the amount and quality of our lives, then it suddenly feels essential.

One of the things I love so much about vacation is how grateful my heart feels. Life slows down, and I step fully into the present moment. I notice everything around me and thank God for the details. In a state of awareness, the grass looks greener, and the sky is radiant. The sweet little birds sing a beautiful melody.

When I slow down, I can see things I never noticed before. I don’t want to get to the end of my life to realize that I never fully lived.

This day is a gift from God. What we do with it is our gift to God. Whether we realize it or not, our days will eventually run out. Therefore, we must inventory our lives and see how we spend our precious time.

We can drift along, endure the moments, or enjoy them. We can fight with those we hold so dear, or we can love them wholeheartedly. We can be a stumbling block to the lost or a light, leading them to the Lord.

I want to live in the present moment and enjoy my day. I want to do my best to encourage others and allow my light to shine for my Lord. The enemy is a thief. He will steal our time, peace, and love. He will cause us to worry about tomorrow, so we can’t enjoy today. As the enemy attacks me with his small, insignificant worries and problems, I want to ask the Lord to help me to overcome him.

One of my views from vacation.

Have a beautiful day!
