Do you pray and wait, or pray and become doubtful?
It’s hard to continue when we don’t see any results. Especially when we have prayed for something for years, without being answered, we can’t help but feel discouraged at times. But I have learned that if we continue to show up and put in the work, one day God will bless our efforts.
The Bible tells us God will give us the desires of our hearts. He knows our pain, He sees our struggle, and He knows the exact time when He will answer our prayers—better than we can even imagine.
God works in His time. When it feels as if nothing is happening, we need to put our faith in God and know that He is working it all out.
I prayed and waited for 10 years before my husband got saved. I prayed and waited for 7 years before my books got published. It took 10 years for me to receive the award that God had shown me. And my thumb was a 30-plus-year wait.
During the waiting time, I got closer to God. I needed Him, therefore my soul sought Him. I read my Bible and asked God for encouragement and guidance in the scriptures. I went out on my deck each night and talked to God. Sometimes all I could do was cry, and other times I poured my heart out to Him.
Each moment with God strengthened me. He encouraged me with His presence and His beautiful word. Sometimes He gave me scriptures to ponder, and other times it was a verse of a song. But as I walked through the darkest valleys, I knew He was with me.
God can turn our deepest heartaches into blessings. He can take on our most brutal battles and overcome them with ease. Sometimes we need to stand still and look for the salvation of the Lord. And praise Him on the battlefield—from the deep trenches of sorrow.
When we draw close to God, He will draw close to us. God can bless us amid our heartache. He can make our journey joyful and peaceful, despite our circumstances.
I wouldn’t take anything for my hardships with the Lord. I’ve learned so much from the trenches. Most of all, I have learned that God will never leave us. Even when we turn away from Him and go off on our own, He is still there for us.
The reason we believe that He has forsaken us is that we have turned our minds and hearts away from Him. We can’t see the blessings because we have stopped looking for them. We can’t feel His spirit because of our disobedience.
God wants us to desire Him more than the things of the world. When we put other things between us, then we make a separation.
I am the happiest when I surrender it all to Him. When I stop trying to control my life, then I can allow Him to lead me. When I seek His guidance, He will give it to me. When I walk by faith, even when it doesn’t make sense to me, then God can use me. That’s when He blesses my life in unimaginable ways and takes me to places that I never imagined.
