Finding Peace in God’s Promises

Have you ever lay awake during the night, worrying about a problem beyond your control? That has happened to me many nights. I might have had something on my mind when I went to sleep that tormented me all night. Even though I would try to reassure myself every time I woke up, the worrisome thoughts still lingered.

But when the morning came, and I started reading my Bible, God had the exact scriptures I needed to read. One morning, after a particularly troubling night, this verse had me lifting my eyes to God and thanking Him for His divine protection.

Psalm 91:11 (KJV)
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

It reminded me that nothing can happen outside of God’s will. So often, I worry about my imaginary problems. I allow things that haven’t even happened yet or will probably never happen to steal my peace. If we only focus on the minute that we are in, then we could be peaceful because, at that moment, everything is fine.

Nothing, not even the enemy, can stop God’s will. If it is God’s will that something should happen, no amount of worrying about it will prevent it from happening. While worrying about something steals my peace, praying about it gives me peace. In every moment, we should believe that God will always do what is best for us. He is in control! And we are so incredibly blessed to be His children.

I am so grateful for all the times God speaks peace to my troubled soul. God always knows what we need when we need it. What a gift it is to be loved and protected by Him.
