Embracing Change: Surrendering to God’s Plan

We can’t pray for change and expect to stay the same.

I do this all the time. I pray for things, but when they become uncomfortable, I want to keep them the same because I fear change. Knowing this about myself helps me relate to the children of Israel.

They wanted freedom and the promised land God showed them, and yet they wanted the comfort of slavery. They complained when things got tough in the wilderness. Some of them even wished to be back in Egypt, even though their lives were hard and they were in captivity.

Since they complained and resisted the change, they wandered in the wilderness for forty years. They died in their hardships because they refused to surrender to God and allow Him to lead them into the promised land.

Right now, we all have a choice. We can complain about our hardships and resist them, or we can surrender to God and allow Him to lead us.

God knows how to deliver us, answer our prayers, and give us the good things our hearts desire. So, when we resist change and sabotage ourselves, we need to remember that we are delaying the blessing.

The best thing we can do is seek the Lord and ask Him for the proper perspective. He will show us things and increase our faith. God will help us with our changes and give us a beautiful testimony to share.
