Do you worry? Part 2

Understanding our relationship with God gives us hope. It’s the key to our peace, surpassing all understanding. No matter how hard we try, we won’t find that peace if we’re not aligned with God. We can read all the scriptures, but without God’s guidance, they won’t hold the same power. The spirit of God genuinely comforts us, bringing a sense of calm and reassurance in the midst of life’s storms.

Being saved and attending church are important, but we must have a daily relationship with God. To be truly aligned with God, we must desire Him above all else and obey His will. It’s about following the Lord, and everything else falls into place when we do that. Trusting in His plan, even when it’s unclear, brings a sense of security and lessens our anxiety.

Worry feels more prevalent in my life if I’m not obeying God. I make the decisions and try to control the outcomes instead of trusting God. I feel overwhelmed by trying to do it all myself.

I may pray continuously in this state, but my prayers are not for God’s will but mine. I give Him the exact instructions on how I want things done. And I worry even more when He doesn’t answer me as I think He should.

When I think about it, worrying seems ridiculous. It doesn’t do one thing to help me. It’s the exact opposite. Worrying makes things worse and even leads to health problems.

So, how can we stop worrying?

Take the problem to God immediately. Sometimes just telling the Lord what is worrying makes me feel better. Write out my thoughts and look at them. When the thoughts are in my brain, they can seem so real and scary. But writing them out is like bringing them out of the darkness and into the light. It’s a powerful act of taking control over our worries and empowers us to see them for what they truly are.

It’s like how everything seems more scary at night. Our mind is the same way. If we leave those scary thoughts alone, they will get bigger. But if we pull them out of our minds and look at them, we take away their power. Sorting out our thoughts and asking God to reveal the truth is one of the most powerful things we can do for ourselves. When we realize many of those thoughts come from the enemy and he is trying to scare us, it is easier to dismiss them.

God doesn’t want us to worry. So many scriptures in the bible tell us not to be afraid. Therefore, we must run to Jesus and let Him help us when we fear. He’s waiting with open arms.
