Your Testimony Gives Others Hope

Why don’t we talk about it? Why do we allow the shame and pain to silence us? Why do we allow others to feel alone on a path we’ve walked before?

One of the easiest traps to fall into is making life completely about us. All about our thoughts and feelings. All about what we want and how we do things.

Often, we keep our shame and pain hidden in the darkness. When we could use it as a light for those walking through their own dark times.

When I do events, one of the most powerful things I hear is “thank you for letting me know I’m not alone”. Just knowing that someone else has walked a mile in our shoes is powerful. It is a hope-filled testament to what is possible for them.

Imagine climbing a mountain that looks so scary and uncertain. The enemy tells us that we can’t do it. It’s too hard. But then we pass someone coming down the mountain, joyfully. Someone who tells us it is possible and amazing. Someone who gives us pointers and even tells us who to turn to lead us. Can you imagine the difference?

Every battle.

Every hardship.

Every obstacle.

Every accomplishment.

Every blessing.

Every single one can become a testimony of praise for the Lord. It can be a light in the darkness. Hope in a troubled mind and heart. We all have the ability to share our experiences with others.

Romans 5:1-5 KJV

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Our suffering is not wasted in the hands of God. He can use every ounce of it for good. None of us is good enough in ourselves. We sinned. That sin stood between God and us. But Jesus saved us. We all have stories of sin. Instead of allowing shame and pain to silence us, we need to use our experience to give others hope.

Everyone needs a Savior who can cover their sins. So instead of making my sin the main character of my story, it is Jesus. I want others to know I struggle every day, but Jesus helps me.

Jesus covered my sin.

Jesus died for us.

Jesus loves us.

Jesus can help us.

When we walk through hard things and come out the other side, it becomes a testimony. The testimony becomes the bridge that gives others hope. Therefore, I will not let the enemy use shame against me. Every ounce of it is covered by His love and grace.

Sweet friends, let’s reframe our stories. Let’s find the glory in the tribulations and praise our Lord for the blessing we received from the pain.

Today, God used one of the most painful moments of my life to whisper hope to others. As a young girl, I wrote goodbye letters to my family, and as an adult, I write words to inspire hope to those who feel hopeless.
