Victory in Christ: Overcoming the Struggles of Life

Do you have a problem that feels impossible to overcome? 

Before we can genuinely overcome something, we need to understand what overcoming means. While the dictionary defines it, there is also one in the Bible. From my understanding, to be an overcomer is to believe in God and receive His salvation. It is the victory through Christ. 

To be an overcomer means that we have received salvation through Jesus. We are saved and transformed by the blood of Christ. Therefore, we have the mind of Christ. 

John 16:33 KJV

33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Through faith and following the Lord, we can overcome anything the enemy places in our way. Even if we can’t overcome it in our lives, God can show us how to overcome it in our minds. When we think about things from a Godly perspective, things change. 

The Bible tells us that we will have tribulation. God didn’t save our flesh; therefore, it will struggle. But there is an inward part of us that is like Jesus. Every day, we have a choice: we can listen to the enemy or God. 

When we ask God to forgive us, we overcome sin. 

When we forgive others and love them, we overcome hate.

When we follow God, we overcome the enemy. 

When we examine our thoughts, we overcome our fleshly mind. 

When we live for God, we overcome the desires of our flesh.

When we have faith, we overcome fear. 

It takes God to help us overcome. When we follow God and genuinely desire Him, He will show us how to overcome each tribulation. True power is accepting where we are and what has happened to us. Then, we can move forward. 

None of us can change the past. But we can overcome the pain of it all. We don’t have to carry yesterday’s heartaches with us any longer. We can put each one at Jesus’ feet and ask Him to help us overcome it all.
