Thinking in Scripture: Replacing Lies with Truth

Does the word of Christ dwell in you richly?

Colossians 3:16 KJV

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

As I read the chapter, this verse stood out to me. And I immediately questioned what it means to let the word of Christ dwell in me richly. I believe it means letting God’s word live inside me. To let it affect and touch every part of my life.

God’s word shouldn’t just be words in a Bible that I read. They should be living words that mold me and guide me. Which brings me to my next thought. What if we learned to think in scriptures? The enemy speaks in lies. God speaks in truth. The voice we rehearse becomes the voice we recognize.

When the enemy tells us that we are not good enough, we can dismiss the statement and replace it with God’s word. His word tells me something different.

Colossians 2:10 KJV

10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

When the enemy tells me I can’t do what God has called me to do, I can dismiss it and replace it with this verse.

Philippians 4:13 KJV

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

I want to get to the point in my life that regardless of what happens to me, God’s word becomes the strongest, loudest voice I hear. I want his voice to be so familiar that I dismiss every other voice until I find His.

I want His guidance to be so prevalent in my life that I don’t fear the unknown. I want to seek after the Lord and the things He has placed on my heart. Instead of running from my fears, I want to seek the goodness of God.

So I’m lingering in His word. I want to understand it according to His will and let it become alive in me.
