The Hardest Battle Is in the Mind

What was the hardest thing for you to overcome?

I quickly scanned my previous trials as a child asked me this question during one of my school visits. My answer surprised me a little when I told her my mind. But it was the common denominator in all of my trials.

It’s not always the circumstances that cause us pain, but rather our thoughts about those circumstances.

If we can overcome something in our minds, we can overcome it.

Our thoughts shape our beliefs, feelings, actions, and behavior. Therefore, if I feel like a victim of my circumstances, I will act as if I am defeated. I will wallow in my self-pity and accept defeat.

But when I can get up, dry my eyes, and decide that I will do whatever it takes to overcome my trials, the mindset of an overcomer kicks in. With the overcomer mindset, I can reframe my thoughts and find the courage and strength to keep going.

The battles of life knock me down continuously. But just because I get knocked down doesn’t mean I must stay there. When I get knocked down, God will show me how to get up if I look up.

Through the blood of Jesus, I am an overcomer. Jesus overcame all of His trials, tribulations, and the entire world. Therefore, He knows how to help me navigate every hardship.

John 16:33 KJV
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

No weapon formed against me can prosper. God knows that the enemy will attack us and try to destroy us, so He gave us His promise that it wouldn’t work. When I’m in battle and it all seems hopeless, I love to think on this verse.

Isaiah 54:17 KJV
17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

When I cry out to Jesus, He can put the enemy in his place and help me to see things through His eyes.

Romans 12:19-21 KJV
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

A Godly perspective can change everything. When I take every thought captive, I can bring it to the Lord. I can ask for His knowledge and wisdom about it all.

2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Lastly, I can overcome every challenge through the strength of my Lord. The scripture tells us that we can do all things through Christ. When my strength ends, His begins.

Philippians 4:13 KJV
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Sweet friends, we are complete and whole in God. We don’t need approval from the world. We just need to believe the scriptures and learn how to live by them.
