The Enemy’s Greatest Strategy

Do you sabotage yourself?
Sometimes I know what I should do, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what my flesh wants me to do. While it pleases my flesh, it hurts my soul.
The guilt and shame of sabotaging myself once again cut deep. My self-worth takes a hit. And the door for the enemy cracks open a little bit more. His voice of condemnation sounds louder. It becomes more believable with every act of self-sabotage.
The realization that the enemy doesn’t always do things to hurt me, but he gets me to hurt myself, breaks my heart. He gets me to stand in my own way.
He uses my faults and failures against me.
He uses my need for comfort.
He uses my weaknesses.
He uses my insecurities.
The battlefield isn’t just in our circumstances. It’s in our minds. Long before the enemy influences our actions, he tries to shape our thoughts.
To be honest, I don’t know how to defeat the enemy and stop sabotaging myself. I fall victim to his attacks daily. But I’m ready to make changes. So I start with prayer.
God knows where I am and how to help me. He knows exactly what I need. He has the strength and knowledge I need.
As I was out walking today, God gave me some beautiful thoughts. All of it comes from our thoughts. It’s not the actual circumstances that cause us pain, grief, or anger, or create strongholds in our lives. It’s our thoughts about them and what we choose to believe.
God gave us free will. We get to choose. We can’t control the thoughts that pop into our minds, but we can choose to welcome them or tell them we are not interested. Someone said we should treat our minds like we do our homes. We don’t have to welcome everyone inside and feed them. We can simply stand at the door, smile, and say, “I’m not interested,” as we shut the door.
I’m determined to figure this out and overcome the enemy’s attacks. I know God will help me, and I will share what I learn with you. Every day, I’d like to tackle one of the lies making me feel stuck and overcome it through God’s word.
If we continuously pour the truth from God’s word into our minds, we will eventually overflow the bad thoughts with God’s truth.
Sweet friend, let’s break every stronghold, uncover every lie, and reveal every strategy of the enemy. Instead of lying down, because the enemy tells us we are too tired to continue, let’s keep going in the name of the Lord. Let’s pray when we feel defeated, weak, and unworthy.
With God on our side, we can overcome every attack the enemy brings.
