The Danger of “Just a Little”

The enemy tells us it won’t hurt us. Just a little bit of it will be fine. But if it goes against what God has told us, any amount is harmful.

Galatians 5:9 KJV

9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

The wrong belief can change our lives. Little compromises can grow into big strongholds. And one little lie can shape our identity.

At first, we might believe these things are harmless. But look at how believing one lie completely changed Adam and Eve’s lives, and ours as well. It was one small act of disobedience that changed the trajectory of their lives and ours.

Disobedience costs us something. We might think the offense is small, but to God it might be something big.

One lie kept me stuck and in pain for years. The enemy told me that it shouldn’t have happened to me. Believing that lie hurt me. It made me think God made a mistake. That I was a victim of my circumstances.

The victim mentality shaped all of my thoughts afterward. It took me on a downward spiral of my worth. But with one thought, God changed everything for me. The day He showed me I could have died, but He spared me, changed my life. It transformed my thinking and shifted me from a victim to a survivor and then an overcomer.

Allowing even a little of the enemy into our lives can harm us. There’s no such thing as harmless moments with the enemy. He wants to destroy us. Therefore, we have to watch and pray. When we feel the temptation, we can take it to God and ask Him to help us overcome it.

What little lie are you believing?
