The battle is not ours but the Lord’s

The enemy wants to overwhelm us. He tries his very best to get us to quit. In seasons of growth, he throws every ounce of trouble he can find our way. We can listen to him and become discouraged, worried, and stressed, or we can tune in to the still, small voice of the Lord.

God never speaks words of discouragement to me. He may whisper warnings or caution but never discouragement. Satan creates those thoughts.

If we want to grow, we must take the Lord’s extended hand and follow Him into deeper waters. We might feel like the children of Israel at times. As the boisterous storm comes upon us, we might become afraid. But the same God who parted the water for them to cross the Red Sea on dry ground will also help us. God didn’t lead them into the wilderness to destroy them. He was leading them to the Promised Land.

Sweet friends, God has great blessings for us as well. We have to trust Him. When things feel like they are falling apart, perhaps God is just arranging everything exactly how He wants it to be. Our job is not to figure it all out. Our job is to trust the Lord and follow Him.

God sees our efforts. He understands our tears, exhaustion, fear, etc. Jesus has battled Satan and defeated him many times over. Regardless of what Satan dishes out, the Lord has a plan and will make it look so easy. Therefore, we must remember that the battle is not ours but the Lord’s. We know how this story ends, and we can praise God in the middle of the fight. Because we know the heartache is not worthy of being compared to the blessing.
