Remember who you are

One of the ways the enemy attacks us is through our identity. He wants us to feel less than, different, weird, unworthy, unqualified, unloved, etc. If he can get us to believe his lies, he can cause us to doubt and get stuck in a cycle of pain. This happened to me for years.

He used my scars to hurt me. Over and over he filled my mind with lies about them until the pain was unbearable. I became depressed and felt so hopeless. The picture that he painted me about my present life and future was so painful that I couldn’t see beyond it. I used to cry every night. Thankfully, God understood my tears. By His love and His word, He disputed every lie that the enemy told me.

Lie: You are unloved.

Truth: 1 John 4:9-11 (KJV)

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Lie: You are unworthy.

Truth: Psalm 139:14 (KJV)

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Galatians 3:26 (KJV)

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Lie: You are unqualified.

Truth: Philippians 4:13 (KJV)

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Lie: You are different.

Truth: 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Philippians 2:5 (KJV)

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

What a blessing it is to be a child of the King. Our flesh may have faults and failures, but our hearts are perfected in God. We are like Him. Therefore, we are an enemy of the devil. He chatters in our mind constantly. We can silence him by ignoring him and drawing closer to God. Memorize these scriptures until they are an automatic response to the enemy’s lies.
