Prepare for battle

Do you ever wonder when life is going to get easier?

I remember going to my dad one day and asking him this very question. I worked hard to do everything right, but my life wasn’t getting easier. It felt as if it got more challenging every day.

My dad said, “It doesn’t get easier, but you will get stronger.”

That knowledge was hard to swallow because I thought I would get to a specific place, check off enough boxes, and then it would be smooth sailing. But with each new level, the enemy changes his strategy, and his attacks become more challenging.

God knows how to defeat the enemy. But He doesn’t just step in and do it for us because He wants us to strengthen. Therefore, He guides us through the battle. I had to understand that I still have to fight daily.

When it gets hard, we don’t need to go to bed and pray it will get easier. I’ve done this so many times. Instead, we need to prepare for war. We must wear God’s full armor and pray for the strength to overcome the enemy.

Ephesians 6:11-18 (KJV)

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
