Light Overpowers Darkness

2 Corinthians 4:6 KJV

6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

As I was reading this morning, God gave me such a beautiful piece of understanding that it stopped me mid-verse and touched me. In the pause of it all, I discovered a tender wisdom I had previously missed.

When God saved us, He didn’t prevent us from being able to sin again. He didn’t remove darkness from our lives. Instead, He came into our hearts and replaced our darkness with Himself. Through God, we can overcome the darkness because He is our light.

Regardless of what darkness we might encounter, our Lord has the light we need. Light doesn’t necessarily remove darkness; it overpowers it.

Sweet friend, I don’t know what you’re facing. I don’t know the ache in the deepest parts of your heart. But I do know that our God can overcome it all for you. He has the power and resources to make it happen.

Sometimes we just need to sit in all the wonder and greatness of who God is. When we look toward Him, we will see things we never considered before. Even suffering can create something holy.

Don’t give up. The pain might feel unbearable now, but God will not waste it. He will make it glorious.
