Let love be your roadmap

When my boys were younger and struggling with various things, I asked God to give me a way to help them. As a mom, it is hard to watch our children struggle and not know how to help them. That is one of the reasons why I went through the life coaching program. I wanted the skills to be able to help them.

I read many books on the mind, habits, and thought process and learned to intertwine the skills with my Christian beliefs and scriptures.

At first, I put sticky notes on the bathroom mirror each morning for my kids. I gave them small steps to take or some encouragement for the day. And sometimes they responded to me. We used sticky notes and dry-erase markers on the bathroom mirror to encourage each other.

I loved waking up to something from them on my mirror, and I believe they also loved it. It was such a sweet way for me to teach them what I was learning and show them that I loved them and wanted to help them through whatever hardship they encountered.

I had never been a mom to teenagers, and I had no idea what I was doing. But I was determined to learn. I did a lot of praying and learning during those times. While those times were hard, they helped me bond beautifully with my young adult children.

Sometimes, we just need to allow pain and hardships to lead and bond us. We can move mountains when we choose to put love before anything else.
