It Will Get Better

Whatever happens, God will be there.

When the burdens of life come upon us, it’s hard to see anything beyond the pain. In these moments, the enemy whispers words of defeat and discouragement. He assures us that it will never get better and that we will have to learn to live with the pain. 

It will get better.

When I say it will get better, I don’t necessarily mean everything will turn out exactly the way we want. Sometimes God changes our circumstances. Sometimes He changes us within our circumstances. Sometimes the pain eases slowly as He teaches us how to carry what once felt impossible.

Better doesn’t always mean the problem disappears. Sometimes better means discovering we don’t have to face it alone.

Even if God doesn’t change our circumstances, He will walk through them with us. When we find ourselves in the fire and feel completely alone, we can remember that we aren’t. God is there with us.

Sweet friends, God doesn’t leave us. 

Isaiah 43:2 KJV

² When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

That’s one of the beautiful gifts of salvation. Nothing can ever separate us from Him. 

Romans 8:37-39 KJV

³⁷ Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

³⁹ Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

When I truly pause and think about what this means, it brings me to tears. The God who created it all will never leave me. He will always be with me to help me through whatever I have to go through. 

When I reach the end of my strength, I discover the sufficiency of His. His grace is sufficient for me. My sufficiency is of Him. 

So often, the enemy wants us to rush through these truths. He wants us to read the words only, not let them sink in. When we let them sink in, we discover the miracles in the ordinary moments of our lives. We feel God’s presence amid the pain. And have a hope inside of us that no amount of pain can quench. 

We feel loved by a Father who loves us. One who cares for us. 

Yes, we have problems. But we also have a God who meets us in the problems and helps us deal with them. That’s one of the most comforting things I have ever heard. The enemy wants us to live in fear. He wants us to believe that something might happen beyond our control or ability to handle. 

Yes, there will be things beyond my control.

There may even be things beyond my ability to handle alone.

But God.

God will be there.

God will strengthen me.

God will give me grace for what comes.

God will love me through it.

And nothing—not the fire, not the water, not today’s trouble, and not tomorrow’s uncertainty—can separate me from His love.

Sweet friend, you don’t have to know how you’re going to get through everything that could happen. You only need to remember who will be with you when it does.
