Is your heart troubled?

Life has a way of bringing us to our knees at unexpected times. Everything is fine one minute, and the next, it seems it will never be okay again. The pain in our hearts can be so great at times that we will feel as if we can’t breathe. I understand, dear friend. I’ve been there.

I’ve been face down in the trenches of life. My burdens have seemed so great that I didn’t feel they could ever improve. Amid my despair, God always shows up on time to help me. He may not prevent me from entering the fire, but He goes in it with me.

It is in the fire that we are refined. God uses extreme pressures to mold us and strengthen us. He wants us to withstand the world’s evil, so He gives us trials to endure so He can teach us how to go through the hardships of life. While it certainly doesn’t feel like it at the time, each trial is for our benefit. Each teaches us something that we didn’t know and provides a unique strength. We can’t buy these gifts. They are not for sale. We have to earn them.

What a blessing it is to come out the other side. During the intensity of the pain, we need to keep our eyes on God. He will help us through it all. By faith, we have to pick up our cross and follow Him. We must roll over and lift our eyes toward Heaven if we stumble or fall. If we can look up, God will help us get up.

No situation, regardless of the intensity, is hopeless. And regardless of what the enemy tells us, we are not helpless. God is our strength, and He will fight for us. When my heart is troubled, I like to visit the scriptures.

Luke 12:7 (KJV)

7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Isaiah 43:1 (KJV)

43 But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

John 14:27 (KJV)

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 (KJV)

16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

When I read the love in God’s word, then it calms my troubled heart.
