Honoring the Commitment

It would have been so easy for me to skip my workout today. I slept in this morning and made it harder on myself. Normally, I get out of bed and do it first thing, before anything else distracts me. Today, however, my schedule was different. Instead of going to work, I went shopping with my mom and sister.

After hours of shopping and playing with my niece, I just wanted to take a nap when I got home. For a few minutes, there was a warfare inside of me. My enemy always has a list of excuses at my disposal, and he encourages me to use them. If the first list doesn’t work, he always has more. All I have to do is look for the excuses. The devil has an abundance.

My commitment to myself, my team, and to my challenge group, however, was stronger than my excuses. I was reminded that when we commit to someone or something that we should follow through. Yes, it will be hard. Yes, we will want to quit. We can’t just show up when it’s easy or convenient. If we just show up when we feel like it, then we will soon discover that we rarely feel like it. Therefore, it’s our dedication and determination on the hard days that will determine our success.

Love and blessings,

Candida
