He Will Come to You

Do you ever pray and desire for God to tell you it’s all going to be alright and there won’t be any pain?

Me, too, sweet friend. 

Sometimes I want Him to interrupt my prayers and worries and tell me everything will be just fine. It won’t be painful. I’ll get through it unscathed and unaffected. It will be easy. But that’s not what He promises me. 

What He does promise me is that He will not leave me. He will come to me.

John 14:18 KJV

¹⁸ I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 

What a promise and a blessing! Regardless of how hard the journey might be, Jesus is with us. He doesn’t just know the way. He is the way. He doesn’t just know the truth. He is the truth. He doesn’t just know life. He is the life. And we are connected to Him. He is our lifeforce. 

John 14:6 KJV

⁶ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

God has everything we need, and He loves us. Not conditionally, but spiritually. His love goes beyond anything that our minds can conjure. We don’t understand the depth of His love or the wisdom He has. But we can find peace with Him. A peace that steadies us even when nothing around us has changed.

John 14:27 KJV

²⁷ Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

This is one of my favorite verses. It speaks deeply to me, especially when my heart feels troubled and afraid. It reminds me that God can give me peace inside the storm. He doesn’t need the circumstances to change to comfort me. Jesus doesn’t wait for the storm to end before He brings peace. He steps into the middle of it. He will come to me right in the middle of the storm, and His presence and truth will speak peace to me. 

Will I still have troubles? Yes.

Will I still worry? Sometimes.

Will my heart become troubled? Of course. 

But I can seek the Lord, and He will give me His beautiful peace. He will help me through the things beyond my control or understanding. I have learned that if I seek the Lord with my heart, He will show me how to live the scriptures instead of just reading them. 

God can bring them to life in my life. He can give me great understanding of them through my situations. And show me how they apply to me in this moment. 

The more I read God’s Word, the more I realize it isn’t just the story of what God did then. It’s an invitation into what He wants to do in me today. It is a beautiful, rich roadmap of how to live and love. And the best part is that God will be with us as we read and apply. 

We don’t have to live fearful, troubled lives. We can live in the peace, truth, and love that God exhibits. 

The enemy speaks in fear.

God speaks in love and peace. 

Every day, we choose which voice we will believe.
