Have You Prayed About It Yet?

If youre anything like me, you might worry over your problems, try to control them, change them, or ignore them. But the sad part is that I don’t always pray about them. Not at first, anyway. I wait until my problems get bigger or harder to endure.

Then, when it feels as if my problems might swallow me up, I finally pray. But what if I prayed sooner? What if we prayed as the scripture instructs?

1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV

17 Pray without ceasing.

When we take it all to the Lord, we invite Him into every part of our lives. I truly learned this through parenting. I had no idea what to do or how to parent my kids well. When I stopped pretending that I knew what I was doing, I invited God to teach me.

Prayer is an open conversation with the Lord. When we learn to talk to Him throughout our days, we will not only grow closer, but also learn to seek Him in the small things as well as the big things. Most of us won’t make a big decision without praying about it, but we make small decisions all day long without praying. Sadly, small decisions and moments shape our lives.

Constant conversation with the Lord throughout our days can interrupt our tendency to worry. Every worry can become an invitation to conversation with God.

1 John 5:14-15 KJV

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

If we ask God for guidance and trust that He will guide us, it quiets the fears inside us. We realize we are not alone to figure it all out. We don’t have to try to control things.

The more I pray, the better I feel. Prayer takes my heartaches and gives them hope.  Anytime I tell God about something bothering me, I invite Him in. God has solutions, miracles, abundance, and peace.

As we become closer, the more I trust the Lord to help me and to be with me through it all. God cares about the details of our lives. He wants us to come to Him.

I talk to Him like I would a friend. Often, just praying makes me feel better because I have shared my burdens with the One who can overcome them. God’s presence can give us peace amid the storms.

Try it, sweet friend. Don’t wait until the problem becomes so heavy you can barely carry it. Take it to God while it’s still small. Talk to Him about the decision, the fear, the person who upset you, the thing you don’t understand, and the thought you can’t seem to shake.

Pray sooner.

Let worry remind you to return to God. You don’t have to figure everything out before you come to Him. Bring Him the problem, and trust Him with what happens next.

Prayer takes my heartaches and gives them hope.
