Have You Asked God?

Sometimes, we desire, worry, talk about it, and think about it, but we never ask the Lord for it. Perhaps we assume God knows what we want, and while He does, He also wants us to ask Him.
When we ask God for specific things and then believe that He has the power and ability to do them, it increases our faith. Then, when God answers the prayer, we know it was Him. Prayer removes the thoughts of luck and coincidence.
Matthew 7:7-8 KJV
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
I had a situation once that had me so troubled. I texted and called several people and asked them to pray for my need. I desired for God to fix it. I worried about it. Talked to everyone about it. Everyone but God. As the anxiety inside of me bubbled and increased, God whispered these words to me, “Ask me.”
I was asking everyone to help me, but neglecting to ask the One who could truly help me. When I asked Him, He answered my prayer.
God showed me that day that, before we ask others to pray for us, we should pray ourselves. If not, the person we always run to for prayer can become like a God to us. We might start thinking they have all the power and are responsible for the desired outcome.
It’s fine to ask others to pray, but we need to pray first.
We need to develop our own relationship with God. He needs to be our first call. Before we search for advice, solutions, or reassurance, we can first seek the One who already knows the answer.
Do you ever write down your prayers? I do sometimes. It’s powerful to go back and read a prayer that God has answered. As I read the prayer, I could feel the pain in my words. It felt like a glimpse into a broken heart. And it intensified the blessing’s power. Being able to remember the pain amid the blessing of an answered prayer is powerful.
Sweet friends, prayer is such a beautiful bond with God. Just the act of praying makes me feel better. Knowing my God, who is all-powerful and wise, has heard my prayer comforts me. Especially if I believe the verse in Matthew 7. If we ask, we receive according to God’s will.
God hears our prayers. He answers according to His wisdom, timing, and will, and we can trust that His answer is always for our good.
