Goodbye 2018

As we go through the last day of the year, I want to take a moment to reflect on my life this year and ask myself these questions. Then, I am going to answer them in my journal. What did I do well this year? What did I struggle with? What do I need to release? How can I make the next year even better?

Going into the new year, I have a list of goals that I want to accomplish. However, I know that there are really only two things I can control every day: my effort and my attitude. In 2018, I did a lot of work on me. I read tons of books in the areas that I struggle with because I truly want to do better in my life.

I don’t want to live my life each year exactly the same way. I want to see and feel growth. Every day I want to take one more step toward becoming the person God created me to be. At the end of my life, I want to know with certainty that I lived well and loved deeply. Therefore, I need to watch and pray daily that I don’t fall into the traps of the enemy.

He is the one who always convinces us how tired we are or gives us some other excuse. The devil knows that he can’t defeat us, but he can cause us to drift through our days—wasting them away. He can have us living in fear, and wasting the precious time God has given us.

In 2019, I want to live intentional every single day. I want to do work that matters and be a light to those around me. I want to walk just as close to God as I can. I want to be loving and compassionate to those around me and to extend my hand to those who are struggling.

Therefore, I want to develop good habits that will bring me closer to God. Journaling and meditating daily are two things that I am working on now. I also want to spend more time in nature. I love to walk and talk with God. He gives me the best ideas while I am walking.

While I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions, I do make new goals for the new year. I believe in order to get to where we want to be in our lives, then we have to know where we want to go.

How would you like to improve your life in 2019?
