From Darkness to Light: How Jesus Saved My Soul

I was in the darkness. Surrounded by sin and pain, with no hope and no way out. Fear bombarded me every day. Hatred bubbled in my heart. Not really for anyone else, but for myself.

The misery of my everyday life was more than I could handle. Every morning, exhausted from not sleeping well, I had to carry the burden of my sin, shame, pain, hatred, guilt, and fear. It was a pressure unlike anything I had ever felt before. I couldn’t escape it.

Even the presence of others didn’t relieve my burdens and the pain they caused. The enemy whispered words of hopelessness, making me feel helpless. I wanted a way out. A way to not only escape the misery but to overcome it as well.

And then there was Jesus.

He saw me in my pain. Jesus offered me something else. He offered to take all of my sins, shame, pain, hatred, guilt, and fear and replace them with peace and love. Honestly, the exchange felt too good to be true. Who would want to take all of my bad things and give me good things in return?

Jesus.

As He spoke to my soul, a hope I had never considered stirred in my soul. All I had to do was believe that He could take my sin and replace it with eternal salvation. That He was God’s Son, sent to save me. That His offer never depended on my worthiness, but on His grace, mercy, and unconditional love.

He wanted to save me. He wanted to carry my burdens. And give me the hope I so desperately desired.

Sweet friends, I can’t find the words to explain what He did for me. I don’t know how to fully articulate how it feels to be saved. But the hope in my soul is amazing.

Regardless of what happens to me, I know that I have a Savior who loves me, even enough to die for me. Nothing can separate me from His love. He is with me through every trial and tribulation, as well as every blessing.

Nothing compares to His blessings. They flood my soul with goodness that can only come from the Lord. When He moves in my soul, nothing else matters. I feel loved and cared for, protected and cherished.

God will meet you where you are. We don’t have to be perfect to gain salvation. We just have to believe that a perfect God wants to save us, that He loves us, and wants a relationship with us. All of us. Not just certain people. When we seek God by faith, He will save us. Jesus promised that whoever comes to Him, He will in no wise cast out. That’s a promise we can trust.

John 3:16 KJV

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
