Finding Peace in Prayer: Overcoming Overwhelm

The enemy loves to overwhelm us. When our to-do list bounces around in our minds, it’s easy for the enemy to add to it and move non-essential tasks to the front of the list. He can make something so small feel significant. Therefore, when I sigh a lot and feel ready to come unglued, I know I must pause, pray, and write it down.

I understand that pausing amid the chaos feels crazy. The enemy urges us to speed up instead of slowing down, but rushing and going into crazy mode makes it worse. Or at least it does for me.

What helps me the most is to pause and pray. When I ask God to help me, He will.

He can help me see things differently.
He can help me prioritize tasks.
He can help me overcome my doubts and negative thoughts.
He can help me do it all with love.

Sweet friends, the enemy attacks our minds. Listening to him is what makes us feel out of control. But when I turn to God and listen to Him, He gives me good thoughts.

Thoughts that are
anxious
depressing
frustrating
overwhelming
hurtful
criticizing
complaining
hopeless
come from the enemy.

God gave us the mind of Christ. Therefore, we can ask God to help us establish our thoughts and think about the situation in a Godly way. Most of the time, between the pause and the prayer, I’m able to see things differently.
