Embracing the Journey: Trusting God with Your Dreams

Does the desire of your heart feel too big for you?

If you nodded your head and gave it a slight tilt to show total agreement, I feel you. The dream I am currently working on scares me to death. I’m afraid of what it will be like to finally accomplish this dream and scared that I might never know that feeling. It’s a beautiful combination of fear and hope.

The only way I know how to proceed in the clutches of fear is to pray through it. My dad has preached so many times that prayer is our best tool. When we feel fear, we have two choices: we can pray through it and ask God to give us the strength, wisdom, and courage to do what we need to do, or we can quit and run away from it.

I wish I could tell you that I always choose to pray and stand firmly with God. But the truth is that I don’t. Sometimes, I run away, running from the discomfort and pain I don’t want to endure. The irony is that the farther I run, the more discomfort I feel.

However, if I get down on my knees and pour my heart out to God, He helps me. He gives me whatever I might need. He has an abundance of resources. God knows my situation. He understands each piece of the problem and holds the solutions.

Therefore, I have no excuse to refuse God.

I mean, I make them up all the time. I tell God I don’t know how to do it, I don’t have what I need, and I don’t have the time. But they all sound ridiculous when I remember who I am making the excuses to.

The truth is that I have allowed the enemy to sneak into my thoughts. His lies have distracted, discouraged, and derailed me. But he can only genuinely defeat me if I quit and give up.

If I pray instead, God shows up for me. God doesn’t give us dreams and desires beyond His ability. If we start praying and believing that our God can make a way, even when we can’t see one, He will amaze us.

Working with God comes with a beautiful, amazing power. He opens doors we can’t see and creates the necessary things.

Sweet friends, the only way to truly work with God is do things beyond our capability and allow Him to teach us along the way. If I can do it on my own, it’s not very powerful. But when I stand in my weaknesses and God blesses my efforts into something beautiful and powerful, it inspires others and shines a light into the darkness.

The bigger and darker the task, the stronger and brighter it shines.

Let God work with you. Allow Him to mold and guide you until you shine brightly for Him. God will show you how to do it. Trust Him and allow Him to use you according to His will. The will of God will make you look good.
