Do you wait on the Lord?

I’m impatient. I want God to fix my problem today. I don’t want to wait a few more years or even a few more minutes. I want to get out of this despair immediately.

But God knows what is best for me. He knows the reason for the trial. He knows the formula for overcoming it. So, I stand still and wait on Him.

Sometimes, I wait on God to fix things for me, and sometimes, God is waiting on me to do what He told me to do before He fixes things. Regardless of how much we pray or want a different way, the blessing we desire most comes through the will of God. That means in His time, in His way.

If we wait on God, it will be perfect. But if we move in our impatience, we will suffer the consequences of our actions. Once we do it our way, we can’t change the outcome. We have to live with the choices we make. And some of those lessons are heartbreaking.

Things I’ve learned through impatience:

  1. If it feels wrong, it probably is.
  2. If you feel undecided, wait until God shows you the right decision.
  3. If you feel fear, stop and check in with God.
  4. Don’t do it if you remember a similar bad experience and fear it might happen again.
  5. If God nudges you not to do it, pay attention.

If God is in the arrangement, He will remind you when you prayed about it, desired it, or thought about it. The things that come out of nowhere, completely unexpected, are not from God. They are usually stumbling blocks the enemy puts in our way.

Satan loves to derail us. He wants us to get mad at God because it’s not happening fast enough and make our own way. But if we follow God, whether He commands us to move or stand still, He will bless us.
