Do you have a relationship with God?

God is amazing. He is long-suffering, patient, kind, loving, etc. Instead of having a relationship with Him, I mistreated Him. I only prayed when I wanted something or if I was in pain. Then, when He answered my prayers, I barely even thanked Him. I didn’t spend time with Him regularly, I didn’t read my Bible, and I only prayed selfish prayers for myself. I had expectations of God, and when He didn’t do what I expected Him to, I got mad at Him.

Hatred ruled my heart. I focused on those who had hurt me and allowed the hate to be more important to me than the Lord. I was miserable. And yet I clung to my pain.

Then, one day I needed to pray for a loved one, but God wouldn’t allow me to pray. Every time I tried to pray, my sins stood in my way. It was the worst feeling in the world. My heart longed to talk to God. I wanted His peace and comfort. I needed His strength, but I couldn’t get connected with Him. All I could do at that moment was to pray for myself and ask God to forgive me.

During that horrible time, I learned something profound. Nothing is more important to me than the Lord. Nothing is worth losing my power with Him.

One of my daily goals is to have an exceptional relationship with God.

If we want God to bless our lives, answer our prayers, and give us understanding, and guidance in the right way, then we need to spend time with Him. We need to show Him that He is important to us. It is something I desire in my heart. It is something I work towards every day.

Do I fail? Yes. But God sees my efforts. He knows what is in my heart. And I believe that He blesses my efforts.

I don’t believe it is possible to have a joyful, peaceful life without the Lord being in the very center of it. While we might be able to find moments of happiness, they will be fleeting. The true joy our hearts long to feel only comes from God. When His spirit speaks to our soul, then we are satisfied. God is the only One who can genuinely comfort our souls.

God is one faith call away. When we draw close to Him, He will draw close to us. While He might not keep us from going through hardships, He will be with us every step of the way. We can praise Him through the storms when we are close to God.

Have a wonderful day!
