Do You Believe It’s Possible?

Do you believe it’s possible?

I cried in the gym. Not sad tears. Or painful tears. No, these were tears of joy and praise for my Lord.

As I lifted weight heavier than anything I ever imagined or dreamed possible, God took me on a little trip down memory lane. He showed me the first day at the gym. I could barely even open the door to get inside. I almost fell off the elliptical when my numb legs gave out. And I cried through my first workout.

That version of me so desperately wanted to live without debilitating pain. But my reality when I first started was extreme: throwing up, constant pain. I fell often and struggled through every part of my day.

My doctor told me to sign up for disability. Lying in bed, with the weight of that decision looming over me, God gave me another option. Sign up for the gym, He encouraged.

Honestly, the suggestion seemed ridiculous to me. I could barely walk from the bedroom to the bathroom. How was I going to work out in a gym?

So I had a choice. I could live in fear that my situation would never get better. Or. I could heed the voice of my Lord that assured me it would get better.

Now, I see that I showed God what I believed by my actions.

Faith was signing up for the gym instead of disability.

He didn’t just heal me without any effort on my part. It took following His instructions. I had to change my diet. And work out consistently.

As tears filled my eyes, the journey flashed before me: the 4 a.m. wake-up, early-morning workouts, sticking to my diet, and all the prayers for strength. I saw it all in a few minutes. God reminded me where I was and how He helped me.

My impossible situation was not too hard for God. He was my way. And through my weakness, He became my strength.

Recently, as I was shoveling mud and moving tree limbs, I had a thought. It seemed easier than I imagined it would be. So the question emerged: Did God make me stronger, or did He help me? Perhaps the answer is both. God strengthened me by helping me. Every prayer, every early morning, every step of obedience became part of the miracle He was working in me.

Sometimes we go through our lives thinking we have to do it all on our own. But there is something so beautiful about asking God for help and then recognizing and sincerely appreciating it.

Just because my situation is too hard for me doesn’t mean it’s too hard for God. When we trust Him, He will show us miracles.

Exodus 14:15 KJV

15 And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

As I read this, one thing really stuck out to me. If they had not gone forward as God instructed, they would have missed the miracle. God will provide the way. He will give the instructions and provide the resources, but we have to move forward by faith.

Exodus 14:22 KJV

22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

Don’t miss your miracles, sweet friend. Move forward by faith.
