Sometimes we let the little things rule our lives. The words said, the misunderstandings, the disapproving looks, and the disappointments. If we give the enemy enough room, he can turn something small into a major problem in our minds.
Have you ever watched a sitcom where a misunderstanding turned into a big problem? As viewers, we can see what is happening, and as it plays out, we can see how ridiculous it all seems. But to the ones going through it, everything seems so much bigger than it is.
Every time we think about something that happened, we give it room to expand. With every thought loop, it seems bigger, scarier, and even more disappointing than before. The enemy loves to get us in this place. He feeds small things until he turns them into pain.
Then, when we feel the first stings of pain, he intensifies it.
Often, especially in everyday misunderstandings, our greatest pain comes not from what happened, but from the thoughts we continue believing about it. If we entertain his thoughts, he will make sure our feelings get hurt. Satan wants to maximize our pain.
The best thing we can do is take it to the Lord. Share with Him what happened and how it made us feel. Then ask Him for clarification. God knows all sides of the story. We might be reacting from a previous hurt, or because we are having a hard day.
Some things in life need forgiveness. And some of them need to be clarified and forgotten.
God can show us the truth. He even knows the intentions of every person. We can choose to put the hurt aside and embrace the love. If we look for something to offend us or hurt us, we will find it. The enemy will make sure of that. He will even show us things that are not there. But if we look through the eyes of love, we can extend grace.
Ephesians 4:32 KJV
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
We can let love and grace rule our lives and shape our thinking, feelings, and actions. Sweet friends, we don’t have to let the enemy dictate our lives. We can choose how we want to live our lives.
Let’s love and forgive and choose to see the best in everyone. The enemy wants us to assume the worst. Love chooses to believe the best until proven otherwise.
