A Different Way to See Your Trials

Are you struggling to find hope in the midst of hardship?

When hardships befall us, discouragement comes easily. It may feel as if darkness surrounds us, and in those moments, the enemy whispers lies meant to turn our hearts away from God. While we can’t control what happens to us, we can control how we respond. We can keep our eyes fixed on our circumstances, or we can focus them on the light.

God is the light. When we look to Him, He will show us how to overcome. During our trials, we need to seek God. The scriptures tell us that if we draw close to God, He will draw close to us. He knows how to help us and has grace for our every need. God can bless us through the storms, turning our hardships into blessings because we have favor with Him.

When my heart is overwhelmed, I turn my attention from the problem to the powerful scriptures and promises of my Lord. This changes my mindset. Instead of asking God why bad things happen to me, I ask Him what He wants me to learn from the hardship. The moment I shift my thinking, my thoughts move from a victim mindset to an overcomer mindset.

My most powerful prayers and greatest testimonies have come from my time spent in the valley. While none of us want to be in the midst of a trial, we can still praise God from the trenches. We can read about His glory, sing about His glory, and feel His amazing Spirit in our hearts. Even the most devastating circumstances cannot separate us from God. So when I find myself facing hardships, I know that God is with me. And that is definitely something to rejoice about.

Ephesians 5:19 (KJV)

19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
