The enemy wants us to try harder. To set ourselves on fire and try to do things beyond our abilities, so we will feel hopeless. He wants us exhausted and discouraged.

But what if the answer isn’t to try harder in ourselves, but to walk closer to God?

The closer we walk with God, the quicker we recognize the enemy’s lies and replace them with God’s truth. The more truth we know and understand, the harder it is for us to believe the lies. As we become more aware of the enemy, we can seek God, who can overcome our adversary.

We can’t do this alone. The enemy is too powerful for us to fight on our own. It takes the Lord standing with us.

Let’s look at David and Goliath. David didn’t face Goliath alone. He went in the name of the Lord, according to the instructions God gave him. God was the One who directed the stone and gained the victory. David was just the vessel He used.

Sometimes, I need to remember and understand this in my life. I’m not responsible for the victory, only the obedience of following the Lord. When we follow Him, He will lead us to victory and make us look good.

2 Chronicles 20:15 King James Version

15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
