Do you try to do it on your own?
Sometimes God makes us look good. I’ve heard my daddy say this many times. If I do anything to help anyone else, it is because God blessed my effort. In all honesty, I don’t know how to help anyone. I don’t know what anyone needs. God, however, knows exactly what we need. I love it when he blesses me to touch someone else.
I love it when I go to bed without a single thought about what to write the next day and then wake up inspired to write. That is God. He created us, therefore, He knows exactly how to help us. He knows our thoughts, our heartaches, and what we need to overcome our circumstances.
I overcomplicate things. My mind will take something small and turn it into a huge problem. The more I worry about it and try to fix it, the bigger my problems become. But when I follow the Lord, He brings all the pieces together for me.
I had a speaking engagement once that had me overwhelmed and terrified. It was at a college, and since I don’t have a college degree, I felt unworthy and simply not good enough to speak. I tried writing my speech, but it all felt horrible. So I threw it in the trash and decided to follow the Lord. God intervened so beautifully on my behalf and helped me share my story with power. As I saw the audience react with tears and head nods, I knew I was doing it just as God intended.
When it seems hopeless God intervenes. I love it when He takes my big, complicated issue and fixes it with ease. Every time He does this for me I am awed by Him.
I’m learning to fight my battles with prayer. God understands the ways of my enemy. Therefore, He knows exactly how to help me. He knows my next step and the moment I should take it.
The only way I can know His plan for me is by spending time with Him. Of all the things that I do each day, I believe my morning routine is the most important. So, I read my Bible, journal, and pray each day.
God’s word brings peace into my soul and gives me hope. When I read His promises and about His love for me, I feel cherished and protected. When I humble my heart and pray to Him, I feel connected. Let’s take one moment to think about that.
We can communicate with the God of the whole universe—the creator of it all. When I look at it like that all of my problems seem insignificant. He knows exactly how to help me, and when the time is right, He will answer my prayers in a way that surpasses my imagination.
God wants to spend time with us. He wants us to come to Him with our troubles. When we feel overwhelmed and stressed, we can use those emotions as a reminder to spend time with God. He will carry our burdens for us and fill our hearts with peace. We can praise Him and rejoice in the midst of the storm. And even enjoy going through the trials with Him.
Psalm 63:1-8 (KJV)
63 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
