Do you have shame in your life? Do you allow the shame of your mistakes and sins to hold you back?
The enemy wants us to hold onto our shame as a badge of honor. He wants us to tuck it in all the places of our minds, and let it be a constant reminder of how unworthy and evil we are. If he can get us to focus on the shame of our sins, we forget about the precious grace that covers them.
Romans 6:14 KJV
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Sweet friends, grace covers all of our sins and unworthiness. We can hold onto the sins of our past, or be renewed in the salvation of our souls.
The enemy made me feel ashamed for years because of my gifts from the Lord. He painted my scars with such ugly pictures of shame. This caused me to want to hide my scars, instead of using them to glorify God.
When God saved us, He applied the salvation to us. We are a new creature in Him. We have the mind of Christ and forgiveness of our sins. To dwell on the things God has already forgiven or changed in our lives is a waste of time and energy.
Whenever a negative thought about our shame, which God has already forgiven and buried, emerges, we need to let it go. We need to redirect our minds to the forgiving, beautiful, loving grace of God.
Instead of letting shame bring us down, we should let the grace given lift us. We should praise the Lord, instead of hiding in shame. Learning to live from our souls instead of our flesh is priceless.
Our soul feels gratitude for what God has done for us. We feel the joy, peace, and love that only God can give. Whenever I feel unworthy and not good enough, taking a few minutes to focus on gratitude and truly feel it profoundly changes my thought process.
It transforms me from feeling ashamed to feeling blessed. When I truly feel blessed, I can praise and worship my Lord. And that’s what the enemy wants to prevent.
If he can keep me focused on my sins, the shame will come between God and me. I will feel unworthy to worship and praise.
But, oh, when I can get connected to God with gratitude. It’s then that my soul can praise God most beautifully. And I feel so incredibly grateful for all the ways He blesses me each day.
So, the next time you feel shame, take it to God. Share your shame story with Him and let Him help you turn it into a praise story.
