The Enemy Only Wins If We Let Him

Did you know that the only way the enemy can hurt us is if we let him in?
So often, I need to remember this truth.
We give Satan more power than he deserves. He is on a chain, and he can only go so far. The problem is that we welcome him into our lives. We do this with our thoughts and our actions. Eve is an excellent example of this.
When Satan approached Eve in the garden, she could have ignored him.
She could have called on God. But, instead, she talked to him. Eve listened to the devil, and she allowed him to convince her. Then she followed the devil instead of God.
If we want our lives to be better, we need to stop listening to the devil and following him. We need to tune out the world and focus on God. Instead of listening to how bad the world is, we need to focus on the promises of our Lord. We need to remember who is all-mighty and in control of it all.
Each one of us has the power to decide how we want our lives to be. Do we want to be miserable or fruitful? God blessed us with the freedom to make our own choices. Therefore, the enemy does not get to decide how we live our lives.
Today and every day, let’s choose the Lord. Let’s listen for His still small voice and do whatever He puts on our hearts to do. The Lord can put the devil in his place and help us overcome the hardships of the world.
Joshua 24:15 (KJV)
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
James 4:7 (KJV)
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
When we make up our minds to serve the Lord and listen to His voice only, there’s not much the enemy can do with us. Even if he brings pain upon us, we can use it as an opportunity to draw closer to the Lord and praise Him through it all.
With God, the enemy’s lies lose all their power.
