From Survival Mode to Warrior Mode

I have nothing, Lord.
Those were the words I whispered this morning, as I stared at the blank page. I’m tired. Instead of sitting here trying to write something to share, I really want to sleep for an extra hour.
The day just started, and I already feel as if I have nothing to give it. I’m tired, but not from lack of sleep. If I really open myself up and examine the contents of my life, I see the enemy’s hand all over it.
Ephesians 6:12 KJV
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
We are in battle every day. The enemy has waged war on us. But instead of preparing myself for battle, I try to ignore it and run from it. Or I listen to him as he tells me about all the bad things that could happen.
In this state, I go into survival mode. I’m just trying to make it through the day. But survival mode doesn’t end the battle or even make progress. It simply endures hardships, increases pain, and makes me feel like a victim of my circumstances.
But there’s another way.
When I decide to be a warrior and prepare for battle, everything changes—especially when my battle cry is a prayer to God. When I ask God to help me put on His armour so I can fight the enemy’s attacks, He does.
Ephesians 6:13-18 KJV
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Sweet friends, we might have nothing to give, but God has everything we need. He’s the One who renews our strength and restores us. Nothing we face is beyond His help. Instead of trying to carry all of our pain and brokenness, we can take it all to the Lord.
It is a wonderful and freeing experience when we surrender everything to God and let Him guide us.
So today, will you stay in survival mode—or step into warrior mode and put on God’s armour?
