The Lord is my Shepherd. He leads me, guides me, and helps me along the way. It is such a relief to know that I don’t have to figure everything out on my own. God has a plan for each of us. He knows what lies ahead and how to guide us through every situation we face.
When I feel overwhelmed and defeated, I’ve learned that I need to pause and find a few quiet minutes to pray. It is such a blessing to know that the God of the whole world hears my prayers. He understands the tears I don’t even understand and interprets the groaning of my heart. Every time I come to Him with a broken heart, He comforts me.
Psalm 120:1 (KJV)
In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me.
While many things may catch me unaware, nothing ever catches God by surprise. Even when situations feel completely out of control, God is still in control. He holds all power and all authority. I truly believe it pleases Him to help us. He desires that we come to Him, trust Him, and allow Him to carry what we were never meant to carry alone.
Sometimes the world views this dependence on God as weakness—especially when the enemy tries to provoke us into fighting battles in our own strength. But instead of engaging in a fight I can’t win, I choose to step back and let the Lord fight for me. On my own, I only make matters worse. God, however, is always victorious.
That is why I believe prayer is my greatest weapon against the enemy. When God’s children begin to pray, the enemy doesn’t stand a chance.
Prayer changes things.
