When We Can’t, God Can

While God wants us to do our part, He doesn’t expect us to do His part. He knows our limitations and capabilities, what we can handle, and the exact spot where our strength ends and His begins.

The enemy tries to keep us in a state of distress. Satan either wants us to believe that we have to do it all, or He wants us to think that we can’t do anything to help our situation. Neither of those options is true.

We can’t do it all. Most of the time, the power to fix our problems is not in our hands. If we could always do whatever needed to be done, then we wouldn’t need God. As it is, we need Him to help us. However, He didn’t leave us powerless. God gave us all a beautiful gift when He blessed us with the power of prayer.

Prayer changes things. I would rather have the prayers of the church than anything else. When we humble our hearts and cry out to God, He hears our prayers, even if we don’t know how to voice them. God knows our situation, and He always knows what we need.

Sometimes, however, He doesn’t answer our prayers in the time or way we believe He should answer us. If He always responded right away, then we wouldn’t receive the spiritual gift of the trial. We must endure until the very end of our strength and trust God to carry us through. When we come out the other side of the trial, we have learned everything the trial was meant to teach us.

In the meantime, prayer is so important. When we get to that place of total faith and belief in God, He will answer our prayers accordingly because we will surrender our will to His. Sometimes, we think it takes God a long time to answer our prayers, but the truth is that it usually takes us a long time to surrender to His will. We want things our way and pray for our will to be fulfilled. Most of the time, we pray in our minds and ignore the whispers of our hearts. God, however, knows what is best for us. So, He waits for us to pray the most essential prayer possible.

God, Your will be done.

When we can reach this place and trust God completely to do what is best for us, He will answer our prayers.

Matthew 21:22 (KJV)
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
