The enemy loves to cause us pain. He attacks us in every way imaginable. It’s his goal to cause us pain, mainly if we belong to the Lord. When we believed in the Lord, it painted a big target on us. Therefore, the enemy makes it his mission to try to make us miserable.
While we can’t prevent his attacks, we can choose not to follow him or believe his lies. We can get closer to the Lord when the enemy attacks us with lies and schemes.
1 Peter 4:12 KJV
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
Believe it or not, the trials are good for us. They let us know where our hearts are. During the most challenging times in my life, I learned the most about myself and developed a deeper relationship with the Lord. Our trials remind us that we need the Lord.
Trying to live our lives without Him creates great pain and suffering for us. Not because God punishes us but because our souls desire Him. We crave the Lord and the things that only His presence can give us. In the presence of the Lord, we can even rejoice in our suffering.
1 Peter 4:13 KJV
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
God puts joy in our souls. We can access it anytime when we humble our hearts and connect to Him. The things of the world will not give our souls the joy that we crave; they bring more misery. Anytime we try to replace God with other things, it won’t work.
We will just become more and more empty and feel more alone.
God wants us to spend time with Him and to desire it. We can come to the Lord as we are. He doesn’t expect us to have it all together. God will meet us where we are.
Sweet friends, He knows all about us. He knows the pain and shame we carry. He understands why we do things and knows exactly what we need. Every day that we try to live on our own without Him is painful.
Sometimes, what we think we need and actually need are two different things. All we truly need is God. He will supply everything else.
Take it all to Him. Lay every hardship at His feet and let Him help you.
