The Noise of the World vs. The Voice of the Lord

Why is it so easy for us to see the greatness in others, but we ignore it in ourselves? 

How often do we think, I could never do something like that? It’s too hard. I don’t have the skills. We often limit our success because we limit our beliefs. 

One day, I had this thought… 

It is inside you! The greatness, the strength, the ability to overcome, and the desire. Embrace it and allow it to transform you from the inside out. The only thing holding you back is you. 

How true is this? 

Sweet friend, I have such a hard time believing in my ability to write. My flesh wants me to compare myself to other writers and listen to the opinions of others instead of the voice of my Lord. The noise of the world can seem so loud to a soul desiring to follow the Lord. 

Listening to the naysayers made me doubt and shove Zippy deep into the drawer. The criticism of my gift made me doubt its worth. Because I measured my gift against the wrong thing. 

I compared instead of listening to the Lord.

I strived to do it perfectly instead of allowing Him to guide me. 

I listened to the rules of the world instead of the spirit guiding me. 

The truth is that I will never write like others. So I can see that as a failure or a beautiful gift. 

God dwells in my heart, so His greatness and strength are already inside of me. He can teach me, lead me, and guide me along the journey. 

We don’t have to have it all figured out to start. God wants us to trust Him and step out in faith. When we stop listing all the reasons it won’t work and start focusing on the reasons it could, we open ourselves up to new opportunities. 

Anytime we start something new, it’s only natural for us to have doubts. It’s when we start nurturing our doubts that we cause ourselves grief. Faith is believing in the things that we cannot see, but our heart’s desire. When we have hope, we can get through the really difficult moments. 

The greatness we desire is beyond our comfort zone. In order to get there, we have to step beyond what we know and what we have already experienced, and open our hearts to new possibilities. It’s hard. But the only way we can change our lives is by changing what we do. 

The greatness is already in you.

You are more capable than you believe.

God placed it there on purpose.

Take the chance. Step out in faith and see what God has for you.

That’s what I’m doing. I refuse to hide and deny God’s calling and the precious gifts He has given me. I’m giving God space to work in me and through me. I won’t measure God’s work by Earthly standards anymore.
