The Dangerous Pause

Do you ever think about what your life would be like if you got out of God’s way?

I cause myself a lot of pain and suffering because I try to understand God’s ways instead of just obeying them. When God tells me to do something, my brain kicks in and starts analyzing things. The moment I start trying to understand it all, I invite the enemy into the conversation.

Then it becomes like this.

God told me what to do.

I paused, thought about it, and tried to understand Godly things in a carnal mind.

The enemy entered the conversation during the pause, sowing doubt.

Imagine if David had paused in the battle with Goliath. What if he had tried to understand how God was going to take a stone and slay a giant? But David didn’t pause. He didn’t waver. He marched forward on the promises of God, and God delivered.

Faith doesn’t depend on logic. God doesn’t fit into neat boxes of things that have already been done. He is a God who specializes in transforming the impossible things into beautiful possibilities and blessings.

Honestly, I love these David-like moments in my life. I love it when God takes the little things in my life and blesses them abundantly. I love it when He opens doors I have shut and awes me in the process. I love it when the world tells me no, there is absolutely no way, and God steps in and makes a way for me.

But here’s the thing. We will never experience these kinds of moments if we stand in indecision. We either believe God when He tells us things, or we don’t. God doesn’t accept faith partway. He wants us to go all in on Him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

So, where is He telling you to go all in? Are you stuck in the pause, having conversations with the enemy about God’s power? If so, this next verse might help. It really puts things in perspective for me.

Job 38:4 KJV

4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
