Does your anchor hold during the storms of life?
Storms are going to come upon us. When they attack, the first thing we need to do is make sure that we are anchored in the rock. God is our rock. He is our mighty anchor. Regardless of how strong the storm is, my anchor always holds.
At times, I may feel battered. The storms of my life may invoke fear inside of me. I may doubt my Lord as the waves of uncertainty roll over me. The anchor holds me safe and secure even when I faint because of my unbelief.
While I have never been through this particular storm before, I have endured many storms in my life. I was born during a storm. The enemy attacked me as a baby. In all reality, according to the statistics, I should have died. Most babies die when the bands attack inside the womb. But God shielded me. He protected me. I have the scars to prove it.
Now, when the storms of my life start raging and it all feels so scary, I remember that I am anchored in Jesus.
In the Bible, when the disciples were on the ship, and the storm was raging, they were afraid—so afraid that they woke up Jesus. He commanded the storm to be still, and it obeyed Him. Sweet friends, that same God is with us today. He has the same power today that He had back then.
Mark 4:37-41 (KJV)
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Even if He doesn’t stop the storm raging around us, He can calm the one inside us. Right now, I can review my life and examine each trial. I can see the hardships, remember how hopeless it all felt at the time, and then I can see the great work of my Lord.
This trial will be no exception. The Lord could speak His incredible peace anytime, and all the turmoil would disappear. God will make it look so effortless that we might stumble over His greatness. The enemy will try to get us to praise someone else for the blessing. But we know in our hearts that the Lord delivered again.
