Renewing Your Mind in the Midst of Chaos

God is so good. He loves unconditionally. We are His children, and He always wants what is best for us. God has a plan for our lives. While we know this truth in our hearts, the devil still tries to distract us with our worries and fears.

It’s his job to irritate us. One of the ways that he succeeds is by overwhelming us. When we are overwhelmed, then we don’t take the time to pray. We allow him to push us and make us so busy that we skip our prayer time, reading the scriptures, and glorifying our God.

When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I have learned to pause. After all, overwhelm, stress, and anxiety are just feelings. Therefore, we can overcome our feelings with our thoughts. If we center our thoughts on the Lord, then He will show us our situation with clarity.

Writing down my problems helps me to view them with a new perspective. Sometimes I feel like I have so much to do, but when I write it down, I realize it’s not really all that much. It seems that way to me because the devil is in my thoughts, trying to make things seem much worse than they are. While I have ten things that need to be done, each task will only take me a few minutes.

When we write everything down and then tackle each task by order of importance, then we can build momentum. It helps me to make a to-do list. I love checking off each task.

Another thing that helps me is to surrender it all to God—according to His will. Usually, when I feel overwhelmed, it’s when I am trying to do it all by myself. God wants to help us. He wants us to ask Him for help.

So, if I stop and pray about my situation, then God will show me what I need to do. God helps us identify our problems, and then He also allows us to devise a solution. Usually, the solution that He gives me is so simple that I originally stumbled over it.

The devil makes things seem complicated. God makes things easy. He can answer our prayers in a moment. We just need to put our trust in Him and realize that He is the One leading us. God doesn’t expect us to figure out everything for ourselves. Imagine how great our lives could be if we would only take everything to Him in prayer, and then do what He tells us to do.

Our thoughts create our feelings, which lead to our actions. Therefore, when I feel overwhelmed, I simply need to change my thoughts. I can do this by reading God’s word and praying. Sometimes, all it takes is just one scripture to alter my thoughts completely. The enemy tries to beat us down, but God can lift us up, especially when we remember that we are children of the King. Our Father owns it all, and He loves us unconditionally. He hears our cries, and He has a battle plan for our situation.

1 John 5:14-15 (KJV)
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Romans 12:2 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
