Redeemed, Restored, and Released: Living Forgiven

Are you willing to forgive yourself and let it all go?

When we confess our sins to God, He is a forgiving God. He forgives us, and then He gets rid of them. He doesn’t think about them anymore or bring them up again. The blood of Jesus covers them completely. But the enemy loves to bring them up. He tries to get us to dwell on our sins instead of praising God for our forgiveness.

We remain stuck in the pain as long as we dwell on the sins. It would be like paying off a loan but still worrying about paying for it.

I’m a rule follower. I don’t like making mistakes or doing things wrong. The enemy takes this knowledge and tries to use it against me. He will have us crying about a sin God has already pardoned. One day, I was so down and beating myself up about it when God came to me. He told me He had already forgiven it, and I needed to forgive myself and let it go.

Holding onto our sins only hurts us. It doesn’t benefit us to hold onto the guilt and shame. We can learn from our sins, but punishing ourselves because we did something wrong is a form of self-sabotage.

Many times, we are the ones who punish ourselves. We cling to our pain and treat it like a badge of honor when it’s really destroying us.

We can’t truly praise the Lord if guilt and shame weigh us down. In doing so, we magnify the sin instead of the one who forgave them. Jesus’ blood is powerful. It can cover them all.

Sweet friend, let God have your heartaches. Take each one and put it at His feet. You’ve suffered long enough, and you’ve endured enough pain. Let Him have your sins; He will give you peace and joy in return.
