Praying Without Pretending

One of the most incredible things we can do is approach God with honesty. When we open up and lay out all the heartache and fears, we can have a conversation with Him.

With God, we don’t need to pretend we are okay and that our faith is strong. The vulnerability of how we perceive our situation invites God in. We can tell Him exactly how we feel and then ask for help. Then our words match our hearts.

God knows and understands it all. He created everything and everyone. Nothing is too hard for our God.

If we know nothing is too hard for God, then why do we live that way?

Why do we live in the torment of our minds, trying to figure out things beyond our understanding or control?

We spend a lot of time focused on the why and trying to figure it out. So, often we live in worry and fear when we could live in the presence of the Lord.

When I honestly pray and pour everything out to the Lord, I feel better. But often I carry burdens that were never mine to bear and try to control outcomes.

I try to be my own God and fix everything myself. Sometimes, I even try to fix problems for others. Knowing, I can’t even fix my own problems.

It’s powerful when we can approach God with the humility that we don’t know how to live without Him. When we realize that we need God, it changes things.

Sweet friends, God wants us to desire Him. He wants us to seek Him. Not just as an answer to our problems. But as our God.

What would your life be like if you sought God with all of your heart and didn’t lean on your own understanding?

Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
