Praising God in the Trenches

Deciding to follow the Lord, even through the storms of life, and praise Him through all circumstances, is another level of worship. It’s easy to proclaim the goodness of the Lord when everything is going well, but it’s another thing to choose to have a relationship with God when it all feels like it’s falling apart.
So many times throughout my life, I could have turned away from the Lord. I could have blamed Him for my hardships and quit spending time with Him. Even on my darkest days, when I was mad at Him, I still talked to Him and spent time with Him. Sometimes all I could do was whisper, Please, help me, Lord.
When we hit rock bottom and feel completely shattered but still cry out to the Lord and use our voice to praise Him, we show Him that we are ready to follow Him. God has been molding us for our purpose since the beginning of our lives. But it takes hardships, loss, heartaches, pain, and trials to shape us into the person He created us to be.
If we give up at the first sign of struggle and resist the Lord’s plans, we create even more problems for ourselves. It’s painful to reject the Lord and all the goodness He has for us.
What we can do is pray.
We can pray for guidance, strength, courage, wisdom, patience, and knowledge to be molded by the Lord. It will be hard and so very painful. When I face something that feels impossible, I ask the Lord to show me how to navigate it. He will, and He will give us everything we need. Sometimes when it all feels like too much, I ask Him to hold me. And He does.
It’s been so hard for me lately. The enemy attacks me on every side. All because the Lord loves me. When I am facing down in the trenches crying, I remember that Jesus suffered it all because He loves me. Therefore, I want to take each hit and use my voice to proclaim the goodness of my Lord.
God supplies my every need and hears me when I pray. He comforts me when I am hurting and guides me when I feel lost. The precious spirit of the Lord revives me and blesses my soul. And His love is a balm for my broken heart. My God is a way-maker. He can make way for us when we can’t see a way.
Hold on, sweet friend, the best is yet to come.
