Obedience Unlocks the Blessing

Isn’t it amazing to know that God hears our cry? Regardless of what we are going through, God knows our situation and He knows how to help us. We can read all the books and discuss our problems with others, but it is the still, small voice of our Lord that will truly help us. When we pause, in our lives, and listen, then God will give us our next step. The reason we can’t always hear Him is that we are not listening.

Usually, the thing that God gives us to do is so simple that we stumble over it. We expect things to be challenging, so we make them more difficult than they need to be. God’s ways are simple. But it is usually the thing that we don’t want to do. Therefore, we put it off and reject the plan God has for us. Then, we pray for another way.

God, however, doesn’t change His plan because we want another option. He waits. Eventually, He knows that we will wear ourselves out and be ready to hear what He tells us to do. I’ve caused myself lots of misery by not being obedient to the Lord. I’ve gone off on my own trying to figure it out. I’ve prayed over and over for something different or for God to change His mind. None of that worked.

What works is obedience. When we trust God and do what He tells us to do, then everything will work out exactly as it is supposed to. While it might not be what we want it to be, it will be what is best.
