What labels and beliefs are you carrying around that are bringing you down?
The enemy loves to attack our identity. He wants us to think that we are better or worse than we are. If we believe that we are horrible human beings, we will live defeated. What’s the use? He wants us to think we are so bad that transformation and redemption are for others, but not us.
We even downplay our salvation. Instead of seeing ourselves as a child of God, we still think of ourselves as a sinner. Yes, we sin. But that is not our identity. That’s who we were before God saved us. When we got saved, the blood of Jesus covered every sin. So we can live from the identity of our adoption. We are a part of God’s family. We are transformed.
When I live from the identity of a sinner, I downplay what Jesus did for me. The enemy wants us to continue living in the hopelessness. He tells us that makes us humble. But humility comes from knowing I was a sinner, but God saved me. To say I am a sinner, without including that I am a child of God, doesn’t fully give Jesus the credit He deserves.
The day I got saved, I received a new life. I wanted God to be my Father. And something so wonderful happened to me. God forgave me for it all. Every sin. Every mistake. But He didn’t just forgive me, He transformed me.
To be honest, I have lived a lot of my life in the flesh mindset. I have carried shame for things I did wrong. Guilt because I wasn’t better. And defeat because I thought I didn’t deserve better.
I’ve wallowed in forgiven sins and in a life transformed.
The enemy attacked my identity because he wanted me to deny who I truly am. But when I read Romans 8, I see the beautiful picture of it all.
I am forgiven, freed, filled with the Spirit, adopted by God, strengthened through suffering, guided by God’s purpose, and eternally loved. Nothing can separate me from God.
When I can see my life this way, I feel such gratitude. I can truly see and feel what Jesus did for me. I don’t dismiss my salvation; I enjoy and love it.
I was the person who was hopeless and defeated, burdened by sins. I felt the misery and pain of a life without God and salvation. But when I got saved, everything changed.
God is in me. Therefore, I need to stop allowing the enemy to use shame, guilt, and my sins against me. God saved me. My salvation is holy and special. It is precious.
Romans 8:37 KJV
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Sweet friends, God has what we need. We are more than conquerors. Through God, we can overcome every sin. We don’t have to carry it anymore. Today, I am laying down all of the feelings of unworthiness. I will not carry them or believe them anymore. Instead, I want to carry God’s beautiful word with me. I want to carry around the truth of what Jesus did for me.
My worth and life are in Him. I want my words to be of praise for my Lord. I want my thoughts to be of gratitude for my Lord. I want to live as who I truly am: God’s child.
What about you? Are you willing to lay down the lies of the enemy and carry God’s truth instead?
